Time flies when you're having fun, or 2 dogs or, better, have them both!

Spring is in the air

Zoals in heel blogland is het voorjaar hier ook doorgedrongen. Ik ben begonnen bij onze entree om zo zoetjes aan het hele huis in lentesfeer te brengen. Boven het kastje heb ik eindelijk het oude wasrekje opgehangen met daarin allerlei eitjes en houten haasjes en kipjes (alles van Bloembinderij Ma-d'r-liefjes). In de glazen bolletjes zitten lieve witte ranonkeltjes, m'n favoriete bloemen. Er hangen ook 2 elegante waxinelichtjes in. Op het taartschaaltje heb ik een eenvoudig kransje gemaakt van buxes met kwarteleitjes en een paar kleine vogeltjes.

You see it everywhere in blogland, spring is in the air and so it is at our home. I started to decorate the entrance. Above the cabinet I hung an old laundry rack with allsorts of eggs and wooden bunnies and chickens in it (everything from Bloembinderij Ma-d'r-liefjes, the florist shop of my sister). In the glass bulbs I put sweet white ranuncules, my favorites. There are also 2 elegant holders for nightlights hanging in the branches. I made a simple little wreath on the cakestand of buxus, quail eggs and a few little birds.

Dollhouse- and miniature exhibition

Al weken naar uitgekeken en afgelopen zondag was het dan zover: op naar de poppenhuisbeurs in Arnhem!

I was looking forward to it for weeks and last sunday it was the day: the dollhouse- and miniature exhibition in Arnhem.

En dit is m'n buit: natuurlijk weer héél veel stofjes, kantjes en wat overig knutselspul...

And this is my catch: of course lots and lots of fabrics, lace and some other craft stuff...

Dit zijn eigenlijk m'n enige echte miniaturen, een display voor geurzakjes en een oude trap, beiden voor het brocante winkeltje dat ik weer eens helemaal wil opknappen, ook heb ik daar behang voor meegenomen. En ik heb toch een inspiratie opgedaan, héérlijk! Het begint weer helemaal te kriebelen! Ha, gelukkig heb ik nog niet zoveel te doen!

These are my only 2 real miniatures, a display for sweet smelling sachets and an old stepladder, both for my brocante shop I wanna renovate some day. I also bought some wallpaper for that purpose. And oh boy, what an inspiration I got, it was great! I'm getting the mini-tickles again! Hey, luckily I've not much to do already!

Maar ik heb ook heel wat scrapspulletjes gekocht, zoals kantjes, oude knopenkaartjes en prachtige stukken oud kant.
But I also bought lots of scrap stuff, like ribbons, old button cards and beautiful pieces of old lace.

En bij een hele aardige Portugese dame mocht ik voor 1 euro een hele lading oude stukken kant meenemen, er zaten zelfs nog een paar oude handschoentjes in (geen paar, maar dat geeft niet).

Daar werd ik nou zo ontzettend blij van! Ik kan niet wachten om er iets mee te gaan doen! De kleuren zijn in de loop der tijd zo doorleefd geworden, wat vergeeld en zelfs met wat vlekjes, maar dat maakt het voor mij juist zo bijzonder!

And at the booth of a very nice Portuguese lady I might choose lots of pieces of old lace for just 1 euro! Including a few gloves (not a pair, but that doesn't matter!). That really made me happy! I can't wait to use them! The colors became a bit sustained through the years, a bit yellowed and with little spots, but that makes it so special to me!

Geen echte mini, maar wel klein: oude babykleertjes. Gekocht bij een paar oude dames, die ook oud kant en oude knoopjes verkochten.

No real mini, but little it is: old baby cloths. Bought at a few old ladies who also sold old lace and buttons.

Het kleine truitje had nog het originele prijskaartje, kijk eens naar de manier waarop het vastgemaakt is, geen plastic maar een klein ijzeren pinnetje!

The little sweater had still the original price tag, look at the attachment, no plastic but a little iron pin!

En kijk eens wat er in mijn brievenbus lag afgelopen weekend! Het superschattige kippetje (mét ei en mét hart!) van Atelier Sterre! Kijk dat bedoel ik nou: tijd tekort! Maar alleen al het kijken naar dit vrolijke plaatje maakt me blij! Mirelle, het is weer een geweldig pakketje! Eerst m'n vogelhuisjes af en dan is kippetje aan de beurt, ik wil haar natuurlijk wel voor pasen af hebben!
And look what I found in my mailbox last weekend! The adorable chicken (wíth egg and wíth heart!) from Atelier Sterre! That's what I mean: lack of time! But only looking at this cute picture makes me happy! Mirelle, you did it again girl! First I want to finish my birdhouses and than it's little miss chicken's turn! I want to finish her before easter of course!

Painting job

Tussen de bedrijven door ben ik de nieuwe kast om de verwarmingsketel aan het schilderen. Wat ben ik blij dat dat lelijke ding uit het zicht is straks! Achter de deur komt kippengaas en een gordijn van stof. Wat een lief gezelschap heb ik hè!

Meanwhile I'm painting the central heating closet. Oh man, I'm so glad that that ugly thing is out of my sight soon! Behind the door I want chicken wire and a curtain. What a sweet company I have hey!

En zij trekken zich nergens iets van aan! Laat het vrouwtje maar schilderen!

Thriftshopping-time

Gelukkig deze week weer even tijd gehad om the kringlopen, ik begon al ontwenningsverschijnselen te krijgen! Kijk, dit blik had ik nou net nodig:
Luckily I had some time to thriftshop this week! I almost got cold turkey! Look, I just needed this tin:

Perfect voor de hondenspullen! Ook dat moet natuurlijk in stijl opgeborgen worden! Geen plastic bakjes, maar een echte brocante trommel!

Perfect to store the dog-things! That also has to be stored in style! No plastic containers, but a brocante tin!

Hemeltje lief, wat vinden jullie hier nou van! Ik weet niet of ik het nu foeilelijk moet vinden of dat het toch wel weer wat heeft! Ik lag helemaal in een deuk toen ik het zag! Ik heb het eigenlijk gekocht voor de poppetjes, maar bij nadere bestudering is het wel heel knap gemaakt hoor, die kleertjes van kralen! Maar ik weet nog niet of deze outfits blijvertjes zijn! Alles is gemakt van kraaltjes, zelfs de paddestoelen en de eekhoorntjes (tenminste ik denk dat het eekhoorntjes zijn!). Tja, ook dit is een hobby.....(maar niet de mijne!)

Oh my gosh, what do you think of these! I don't know to like or dislike it! I'm sorry, but I burst out laughing when I saw it! I actually bought it because of the dolls, but at a closer look I've to admitt the beaded cloths are made very cleverly! But I don't know wether the outfits will stay or not! Everything is made of beads, even the mushrooms and squirrels (at least I think it are squirrels!). Well, even this is a hobby..... (but not mine!)

Allemaal schattige borduur- en appliqueerpatroontjes. Ik geloof niet dat ik het binnenkort zal gebruiken (jullie weten het inmiddels: gebrek aan tijd!), maar je kunt het maar alvast in huis hebben!

Helaas niet veel geknutseld deze week, ik moet zeggen dat het opvoeden van onze 2 nieuwe gezinsleden toch wel heel wat tijd (en energie!) vergt! Maar dat geeft niet, het komt wel weer!

All kinds of lovely embroider- and appliqueerpatterns. I don't think I'm going to use it within a few days or weeks (you know it whilst: lack of time!), but I have it in the house already! I've not done many craftings this week, the education of our new family members takes a lot of my time (and energy!), but I don't care, my time will come!

The Big Doll Challenge Day!

I was looking forward to this day!!! Lori is organizing this day today and I've to tell you I lóóóóve dolls! My whole life actually. But don't expect beautiful, old dolls overhere. I don't have any, but maybe if I win the lotery some day.... And I've to admit I know nothing about old dolls, only that some dolls do something to me, their looks, their eyes, their hair... But enough talking, here are my own dolls, not exclusive, but very dear and special to me: These three dolls survived the playing and little children-hands. Most of the time I played with Barbies (or the cheaper one, Daisy), and they didn't survive the time. And to these dolls I only looked and changed their clothes sometimes. But they were always sitting in my room and moved to all the places I've lived.

If the memory of my mother is correct, this must be my oldest doll. It's a Ratti and I got her when I was very little. She only misses one finger, I don't know what I've done to her! She has such a cute and sweet little face!

And this one I got when a was a little girl from my grandparents. When you bend her she says "mama" or someting that sounds like that! She's a real "schildpad"-doll (turtle doll???) and has a very weird haircut and the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen! Ah, and this one was my very, very favorite! She's a Bella-doll and that was how I called her, she was my sweet Bella. I got her when I was almost 10 or 11, almost too big for a doll, but it was love at first sight! I loved her beautiful long darkbrown hair, her pretty dark eyes and her sweet, lovely little face. And I think it was a kind of a sign, this love, because she looks just like my little girl!
And I finished this projekt this morning(!), my own dollhouse-dollies and their new home! These are ( I think!) Ary-dolls and I've re-dressed them. I made this very, very kitschy box for them and I went totally nuts! Ribbons, lace, fluffy stuff, glitters, you name something kitschy and it is in this box!

These 3 little ladies got a new dress, knitted by myself.
And this one too. Pay attention to the border of the dress, it has cute little hearts knitted in! She's the only one who's wearing her original dress. If you like shadowboxes like this, or you just want to see something so cute, you've to take a look at Sweet Eye Candy Creations, she inspired me so much! And I wanted to place these again, because I like them so much! They're still waiting for a projekt or something of that kind. But maybe I give them to my little girl, she likes them too!
And last, but not least, I want to wish you a very springy, happy day! Enjoy my bouquet of Peaonia's and Viburnum, it's especially for you!

The sun is shining, and the temperature is okay, so will it finally become spring???

This is.... my collection

Deze week is het thema "this is.... my collection". Uit het hart gegrepen! De trouwe lezers van m'n blog weten inmiddels wel dat ik een heuze verzamelmuts ben en er zijn ook al heel wat verzamelingen de revue gepasseerd. Maar de belangrijkste en meest omvangrijkste is toch wel m'n collectie tijdschriften.
This week the theme is "this is.... my collection". A theme after my own heart! The frequent visitors of my blog have noticed I'm a real collection-freak! I've shown you many of my treasures, but the most important and large collection is my bunch of magazines.

Ha, natuurlijk m'n scrapboekjes......

En als laatste heb ik nog stapels poppenhuisbladen! Ben ik nu erg, het is wel veel hè? Of zijn er onder jullie meer van die verslaafden?

Sommige bladen vertonen heuse slijtageplekken, zo vaak kijk ik ze in. Elke dag blader ik wel een tijdschrift door, al naar gelang waar ik op dat moment mee bezig ben. Van de woonbladen maak ik inspiratiemappen, wat ik leuk vind scheur ik uit, de rest gaat weg wegens gebrek aan ruimte. Het is echt m'n dagelijkse dosis inspiratie, en ik kan niet zonder!

And at least my collection dollhousemagazines! I'm I bad, it's a lot, isn't it? Or are there among you more of these addicts?

Some of the magazines bear marks of the intensive use. Everyday I read one (or more!) of them, just for my daily dosis of inspiration. I pick the most beautiful pictures out of the homedecorationmagazines (I can't keep them all, I've just a very small house!) and stick them in my inspiration-file, I can't live without these pieces of paper!

Frustrations

Yep, frustraties! En waarom? Omdat ik met zoveel dingen tegelijk bezig ben, er nog niets af is, en datgene dat wel af is kan ik nog niet laten zien! Grrrr...!!!
Yep, frustrations! And why? Because I'm busy with so many things at the same time, there's nothing finished and the only thing that is ready, I can't show you! Grrr...!!!
Ik ben begonnen met de eerste beestjes uit m'n Amigurumi-boekje, dit konijntje lijkt nu wel rechtstreeks van Mars te komen!
I started to make the first little animals from my Amigurumi-boekje, this rabbit looks like an alien straight from Mars right now!

En deze beertjes uit hetzelfde boekje zijn ook nog niet af, volgens mij zijn de oogjes toch wat te groot, dus die moeten ook weer in de revisie!

And these little bears from the same book aren't finished either, I think their eyes are a little bit to big!

Maar ook dit kastje is nog lang niet af, van de 5 popjes heb ik er slechts eentje opnieuw aangekleed!
And this cabinet isn't finished either, I only dressed one doll, still 4 left!

En dit is dan het enige dat af is en dat kan ik niet laten zien! Hoe bedoel je frustrerend! Ik doe bij Picasa mee met een Valentijnsswap, dus wat het resultaat geworden is kan ik pas na de 14e laten zien.

Weer foto's uit de oude doos van m'n kindertijd. Ik heb papier van Elsie en MM gebruikt, bloemen geknipt uit een vel van Scenic Route, vilt van Fancy Pants, sneeuwsterretjes van Zeeman die ik wat nonchelant crème geverfd heb. De letters zijn allemaal restjes geverfd in bijpassende kleuren

Again pictures from my childhood. I used patterned papers from Elsie and MM, cut flowers out of a Scenic Route paper, felt from Fancy Pants, snowflakes from Zeeman (a low-budget store here in the Netherlands) I painted crème in a nonchalant way. The characters are all leftovers I painted in matching colors.
