The Sunday-things

Lovely flowers to you all and especially for
Jeanette, who gave me the Brilliant Blogger Award! Girl, I'm so pleased with it and I want to thank you (again!) for your very sweet words! I'm still blushing!

This is... my favorite children's book

This week the meme comes from
Potty Mouth Mama and is of course hosted by Angela. Okay, I cheated a bit this time. It's not my personal children's book from my childhood (I've hidden those on a very nasty spot and I can't get them without leaving a total chaos behind me!), and it's not one book but it are two. I purchased them some time ago and I really love them! Look at those adorable pictures!

And this are the treasures I found this week:

A darkbrown old children's suitcase, a totally rusted nutmeg-rasp (I wonder why they look at me sometimes as if I come from another planet!) and a few lovely English homedecoration-magazines!

The suitcase found a little spot in my hallway-cabinet, comfy and cosy among my ladies -hats.

And here's my cute rusty nutmeg-rasp, feeling home between all the other old kitchen stuff. Oh, and don't worry, it's only decoration, I'm not going to use it!

Lijkt me gezellig, wie doet er mee?!?

And after that dreaming away while enjoying a nice cup of tea, looking at all these lovely pictures in those wonderful magazines. For only 0,75 I'm happy for hours!

And if there's some-one who wants to join me next sunday, well, leave a comment that sunday at that post and I'll add you and the link to your blog to that particular post. Sounds likes fun, who'll joining me?!?

And here's the first participant: my sister Antoinette

A sweet little book of me

I made this little album out of an old box and used the beautiful papers Noteworthy from MM and added some vintage images, lace, felt and flowers. Every page has a different seize and I teared the sides and inked them to give it a "messy" look. The pics are all from my childhood.

I'm a little bit too early for my sunday-post, but I'm gone all sunday! With the 3 of us we're gonna go shopping at the trade mart in Hardenberg for my sister's flowershop and I won't be home early. And I'm so looking forward to it! So, I want to wish you all a lovely sunday and see you next time!
Hugs, Elly

My laundry-room and the Sunday-things

The laundry room

Today I want to show you the pride and joy of my house-hold: the laundry room!
First the before pictures:

And on these pics I already had piles of trash carried out, so can you imagine how much stuff I gathered together?!? And it's a tiny room, just 2 square metre, but it was so easy to throw everything in. And I've a great (hey, hey!) excuse for all that mess: we don't have an attic, so this was a little substitute for that lack of space. But one day I couldn't stand it anymore and this is the result:

Een frisse, schone ruimte!

A fresh, clean space!

Enough storage for all the cleaning liquids, the ironing board, the vacuum cleaner and all the seasonable things.

Zelfs in m'n washok!

Oh, and btw my name is Elly, Elly o'Lacy! I can't help it, but I must decorate every shelf in the house with lace! Even in my laundry room! I love it, it gives me such a homey and romantic feeling!

En ik heb deze 1001-dingen-zakjes besteld....

And I ordered these cute 1001-things-bags.....

.... and this clothes-peg-bag at Brocaatje, also a Picasa-girl, who owns a very lovely webstore. Go see it for yourself! Oh, and don't forget to look at her adorable dollhouses!

These baskets I have for ages, one for onions and one for potatoes.

So, what do you think? Is it a change or what? I've to take a peak every now and then because I love the result sóóó much! I can't believe it's finally the way I wanted it, after all these years! Now I only miss a curtain to hide the washing machine and drier, but I'm working on it! And then it would be perfect! (Well for me at least!)

This is.... how I like to spend my weekend

Thank you Bird Bath for this weeks meme and Angela for hosting!

I like to spend my weekend doin' little painting-jobs, like this lampstand-in-progress....
.... en met wat naaiwerkjes, zoals dit washok-gordijn-in-wording.....
.... and doin' some sewing, like this laundry-curtain-in-progress.....

.... and doin' some scrapping, like this mini-album-in-progress.
I also love to receive some people on these lazy sunday afternoons or taking the kids somewhere (although that happens not so often! I'm such a stay-at-homey!)
Lookin' forward to next week's meme!

F.O.T.W
These week I found these adorable children's books at the thriftstore.
"Prettige winteravonden" (transl. "Nice winter-evenings") is a sort of story-and game book, to entertain the kids on long and cold winter-evenings, a long, long time ago.....
"The Dreamgarden") is an old storybook with some lovely images in it.
And I finally found a little potty for my old potty-holder I bought in Belgium. It's even "Maastrichts"-stoneware, so not such a cheapy one, but a real "Maastrichter", hey, hey!
And this is the lampshade I showed you above, it was silver when I bought it. Now it's almost pink, and I want to make a new lampshade for it. But I can't choose which fabric to use! Oh my, what a dilemma!

A be-lated birthdaybanner

And it has "Bo 7 Years" on it. I cut little dresses out of cardstock and decorated them with the cute papers of Bo Bunny and with ribbon, lace and buttons. Oh, and some flowers of course!

This is the back-side. I made it so, that after the birthday-party you can make a little album of it by putting 2 rings through the holes. It's still in the scrapbookstore I designed it for, so I couldn't use it on her birthday, but the album I'll finish one of these days with some pics I took on that day!
For my english readers I've a question, I want to ask for a long time, but everytime I forgot it!I want to ask you if my english is readable, sometimes I think it's impossible you can understand a word of my strange way of putting phrases together. So, my excuses if it's sometimes unreadable! And tips are always welcome!
Have a nice and happy week!
Hugs, Elly

A little touch of green and more....

I tried, I really really tried so hard to create a scandinavian look in my home, but I can't help it: I've to add color to all the whites! And I needed a little more powerful color than the pinks and soft blues I already had. So I took my green jars from Greengate out of my cupboard and then I knew it: this is good, this is so good!
This big lounging-pillow I had for ages and now it's lying under the coffeetable. The kids love to hang on it while watching the t.v.

En, natuurlijk, moest ik ook iets verven! Zoals dit oude grenen stoeltje bijvoorbeeld.
And, of course, I had to paint some thing! Like this old pine chair.
And when I'm painting I want to paint more! So this little p.c.-stool was in for it! Further on I painted a little sidetable and the old table I got from my neighbour (do you remember?), but I'll show you these another time.

This is.... a work in progress
Thank you Debbie for this weeks meme, and of course thank you Three Buttons for hosting!
Last Thursday I went to the scrapbook-store I design for and OMG what a beautiful stuff she brought from the CHA! I can't show you these lovely goodies because I've to use it for the next Scrapbookmagazine and not everything is available yet, so you've to do it with a little sneak peak. But I can tell you girls it will become a great scrapbookseason! And you can guess what I'm doing the next couple of weeks!
Another work in progress was this cushion. I made it yesterday and this time I didn't want to make it myself to easy. So I decided to add a fancy rim to it. I think I've never done it before (I always make quick and easy projects! So I can't imagine I ever did!) and okay it was not done within an hour, but I love the result!
And don't you think it looks so pretty on the recently painted chair?

F.O.T.W.
And this week I had some thrifthunting to catch up! The other week I hardly came outside because of the heat, but now it was exactly my weather! And I hardly don't dare to say it, but I went to 4 thriftshops! The kids were all playing somewhere else, so I had plenty of time! And look at those pretties! All in red for my kitchen. First I wanted to use the tablecloth for cushions or something of that matter, but I think I'll keep it as it is.

And more Findings Of The Week: a sweet children's book, a vintage gooseboard-game, the most adorable little children's cup I've ever seen and lots of cute cards.

Look what a bunch! And for no money, 2 euros for 24 pieces! Okay, I had to digg through a suitcase filled with hundreds of cards to find the right ones but after an hour or so I had the ones I wanted!

And I also bought a few with roses. They match beautifully with the embroidered schellekoord (sorry, I don't know the translation!). The colors of the roses are so lovely! Somebody made this with love a long time ago, now I bought it for 3 euros at the thriftshop. She apparently had no children who appreciated this little piece of art, what a shame!
And some things I want to re-use some day. I loved the fabric of the pillowcases, so I'm gonna use them for my sewing, the little rack I want to paint red and pink, maybe with white polkadots. It will look lovely on Bo's room. Well, that's the intention!
And this is way to cute! I think it's a hooded cloak from the 50's or 60's (I think we hadn't these in the 70's anymore) and I love the pattern and the pretty little collar.

It's wadded and look at the lovely blue roses! My sister btw thought I went mad! She likes the most things I buy, but this little cutie she couldn't appreciate! Funny isn't it!

And this white bowl is stoneware from Maastricht (Petrus Regout). It has a lovely subtile relief and is not damaged at all. The little dish is not old I think, but I liked it anyhow! These cards are also from that same suitcase.

So, I think it's enough for today! I hope you liked it!
Have a nice week (the kids have to go to school tomorrow for the first time after summervacation, ieksss....! I wished this vacation could last forever....!)
See you!
Hugs, Elly
