Blog-Break

Even een kleine blogpauze.

Well girls, I'm gonna take a break for two weeks! Just a little blog-break. The kids are having vacation right now and after all the hectics from the last few weeks I think it's time for some qualitytime with my family. I don't know if I'm gonna make it without you for so long, but I've to try! See you after Whitsun!

But I don't let you go, just like that! I want to show you another few l.o.'s, published in the latest issue of the Scrapbookmagazine:

These 2 l.o.'s are made with the newest papers of Teresa Collins. The second one is made on a transparancy. I've never done something like that before, but I loved it!

And last but not least, the wallhanging of my mother at the age of 18. This is for you Mom, for Mothersday!

The beautiful vintage papers are from K and Comp. and match this kind of pictures perfectly. Ribbon, lace and softcolored flowers add a vintage touch. It suits perfectly to the wallhanging of my grandparents I posted earlier.

Zie jullie gauw!!!

Well girls, now it's really time to say goodbye!
See you soon!

Just a quick post!

Goedemorgen allemaal!
Goodmorning to you all! Just a little post (but lots of pictures!) to let you know I'm still alive!

(Findings of the week) laten zien.

Too late for Anja's "Next stop, Thriftshop", but I want you to show you my latest findings anyway. I was too busy to go to the thriftstore this week, but the internet was my solution! (But I think a ride to the thriftstore would have been much quicker ánd cheeper after all! I kept browsing and clicking, my gosh, it's heaven on earth!)

This little construction box was totally undamaged and complete, even the build-exemples were still there!

And don't you think this little gnoom and his little fish are gorgeous??? A long, long time ago it kept the fishes company in an aquarium, now it may make the kids happy!

Two little waterbottles for Tim's room. He'll enjoy the scouting after summervacation, so this looks appropriate for him, I think! Btw, that little boat, made of a wooden shoe, Tim made it himself (okay, with a little help from his dad!) at the Zuiderzee-museum a few years ago, it's really worthwile visiting it someday!

And Bo was pleased with this cute rubber twitter toy. (I hope this is a correct translation!)

But this one, I keep myself! This very old magnetic-dress-doll is way too fragile for little children's hands!

And also this box full of rubber twitter toys arrived last week. I'll only keep a few, the other ones go to my sis Marianne, for her vintage-shop.

And last but not least I want to show you a few projects, published in the SBM:

This lay out was one of the published ones, I used the beautiful papers of MM. I also made this cute little book "corners of my home", I made it myself from chipboard en used the same papers:

What was I thinking when I wrote "just a quick post"? Of course I couldn't keep it short! I know, I talk too much! But now I'm gonna do some householding and then this afternoon I've to go to the pool with Bo, she must do a test for her swimming-exam next week, hopefully she will gets her B-certificate then.
I hope I can visit you all this weekend, oh my gosh, what do I miss you all! What do you mean, I'm addicted???
Have a nice weekend, and see you soon!!!!

N.S.T.S! And princess for one day....

And here I am, with my first showings!

First of all, I went to the thriftstore last week. I found this cute little picture of Bambi and his mother. I also found a wooden toy-garage, but I forgot to take a picture, how stupid, but I will next time! Total costs: 6,25 euro's. (Ha, this was an expensive trip!)

Last saturday I went to the secondhand-store of the church in our village. And look what I found for only 1,50: a beautiful fine crochet doily, a nice blue/white crochet dolldress, doll-cutlery (I think from the 50's or 60's) and an old children's play.

And I also got some gifts, from my mom the lether cowboy hat (for one of the boys room) and the old tea-tin, and from a friend of my sis this sweet softblue doll-cape.

I don't know if the internet purchases count too, but here they are: 2 very pretty real old cards and a very beautiful old children's book with cute little rhymes and lovely pictures

And this pile of puzzles, but I only keep one or two, the other ones are for my sis who will open a "brocante"-store (store where they sell vintage stuff) one of these days. But I must say, I can hardly say goodbye to them! Yes I know, I'm pathetic!

I also made an other l.o. for the Tuesday-challenge on Lesli's blog:

So girls, this is it! I hope I can find some time to post one of these days, because I'm very busy right now. The deadline for the magazine is within 2 weeks and I've still a lot to create! I also have to assist at school a few times and I have to do the collecting-box for the heart-foundation. People who know me, are probable in shock when they read this, but yes it's true, I'm a collector now a days!

And I want to thank Regina and Marja for giving me an award, I'm very, very pleased with it! Your both so sweet! I hope I can give it more attention soon!
For now, have a nice evening!

The Big Doll Challenge Day!

I was looking forward to this day!!! Lori is organizing this day today and I've to tell you I lóóóóve dolls! My whole life actually. But don't expect beautiful, old dolls overhere. I don't have any, but maybe if I win the lotery some day.... And I've to admit I know nothing about old dolls, only that some dolls do something to me, their looks, their eyes, their hair... But enough talking, here are my own dolls, not exclusive, but very dear and special to me: These three dolls survived the playing and little children-hands. Most of the time I played with Barbies (or the cheaper one, Daisy), and they didn't survive the time. And to these dolls I only looked and changed their clothes sometimes. But they were always sitting in my room and moved to all the places I've lived.
If the memory of my mother is correct, this must be my oldest doll. It's a Ratti and I got her when I was very little. She only misses one finger, I don't know what I've done to her! She has such a cute and sweet little face!

And this one I got when a was a little girl from my grandparents. When you bend her she says "mama" or someting that sounds like that! She's a real "schildpad"-doll (turtle doll???) and has a very weird haircut and the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen! Ah, and this one was my very, very favorite! She's a Bella-doll and that was how I called her, she was my sweet Bella. I got her when I was almost 10 or 11, almost too big for a doll, but it was love at first sight! I loved her beautiful long darkbrown hair, her pretty dark eyes and her sweet, lovely little face. And I think it was a kind of a sign, this love, because she looks just like my little girl!
And I finished this projekt this morning(!), my own dollhouse-dollies and their new home! These are ( I think!) Ary-dolls and I've re-dressed them. I made this very, very kitschy box for them and I went totally nuts! Ribbons, lace, fluffy stuff, glitters, you name something kitschy and it is in this box!

These 3 little ladies got a new dress, knitted by myself.
And this one too. Pay attention to the border of the dress, it has cute little hearts knitted in! She's the only one who's wearing her original dress. If you like shadowboxes like this, or you just want to see something so cute, you've to take a look at Sweet Eye Candy Creations, she inspired me so much! And I wanted to place these again, because I like them so much! They're still waiting for a projekt or something of that kind. But maybe I give them to my little girl, she likes them too!
And last, but not least, I want to wish you a very springy, happy day! Enjoy my bouquet of Peaonia's and Viburnum, it's especially for you!
The sun is shining, and the temperature is okay, so will it finally become spring???
Hugs, Elly

The life of a S.A.H.M.

The life of a Stay-At-Home-Mom is busy, very busy. You've to clean, to cook, to iron and of course to do some sewing. And then there's school. As soon as the teachers notice you're a sahm, oh yes, they've tons of little jobs to do for you! Like walking to the gym with 6 and 7 years old, assist the craft-afternoons and oh yes, they needed some parents for the bicycle-examination for the 10 and 11 years old. Could you, maybe...??? Oh yes, of course, what other things should I do the whole day? But I must admit, I enjoy all these little things! I've worked full-time for years and now finally I can do all these things and enjoy my kids so much more! And an other chance: I can visit the thriftstore every week! So now it's time for the F.O.T.W. (=Findings Of The Week): Owww... don't you think they're adorable? This little Bambi with its mother is too cute! And I was lucky to find an other wooden Jigsaw puzzle. And I was trunk-hunting for ages, and you know I found one last week, but this week I found another one, for just 1,50! Well, that's a bargain! The boys love them for storing toys in them and ( very important!) it looks really nice and vintage on their rooms.
And this dish is my last buy, I love the beautiful soft green color. It looks a little 50's, but I don't now if that's right. But I don't care, I just love it!

And I went to the scrapbookstore today. I had to pick up some new papers to make a few projekts for the new Scrapbookmagazine and I had the intention not to buy a thing (I've so much already!) but then I bumped into this:
This really makes me happy: the colors, the glitter and all the cute little patterns. I had to have it!
I also made some projekts for the store :

This is a little album, made of a package of cards and enveloppes, and only 3 patterned-papers. Further on I only used a few clearstamps and a little wallnut-ink. So with very little material you achieve a lovely final result.

I used the pictures taken of my whole family, a few weeks ago. So now it's a great family-album!
And here a few l.o.'s I made for the store:

This are the new Teresa Collins papers and boy they're so lovely! The bold black patterns are softened by details in pink and blue and by the use of craft-cardstock.
And again I did the sketch of Lesli's blog:

My oldest loves dino's for ages, I don't get it, but hey, if he likes them it's fine to me! And everytime he amazes me with his knowledge, he knows every, very difficult name. Don't you think this is a beauty, with its big, sharp teeth?

And there's a new challenge in Blog-land, created by the Creative Buzz: 7 in 7
Every day you've to take a picture related to a number, from 1 to 7.

Number 1: one woman, one passion: scrapping! Number 2: two favorite colors: pink and blue (how surprising hey?!)

Number 3: three favorite supplies: buttons, patterned papers and ribbon (not surprising either!) Number 4: four favorite scrap-books
Number 5: five favorite scrap-magazines
Number 6 and 7 you'll get another time. I already cheated with no.5, that one's actually for tomorrow.

And I was very, very pleased by getting this award from Tiets:Tiets, you really made my day girl, you're a real sweetie!
So now I've to come up with a 5 blogs, and I can tell you, that's a hard job, there are so many talented ladies in Blogland but I've made my choices.
1- Lori (you really have to visit this queen of vintage!)
2- Marloes ( you make all the things I've in mind, but never did so far!)
3- Maureen ( I admire your beautiful craft-projekts and especially the fact you've to combine it with your 6 children)
4- Dees ( you've to see her lovely little craft-projekts and other stuff yourself!)
5- Mama Lieveheersbeestje ( because of her talent to make little everyday-things special)
But there are so many more talented girls around us, and I want you to know I enjoy your blogs almost daily! Thank you so much!
There are 5 rules attached:
1- You've to pick 5 blogs who deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material and also contribute to the blogging community no matter what language.
2- Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to the blog to be visit by everyone.
3- Each award-winner has to show the award and put the name and the link to the blog that has given her or him the award.
4- Award winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of arte y pico-blog so everyone will know the origin of this award.
5- Show these rules!
And there's something else going on in Blogland:

Lori is organizing a doll-challenge on april 8, and no matter what doll or dolls you have, that day you can show them on your blog and visit everyone who's participating this challenge! That will be fun, I can assure you!
So girls, that's it for today! Do you understand now, why a S.A.H.M is so busy? See you soon!
Hugs, Elly
